Here's my hypothesis, backed by years, no actually it's decades now of watching my own relatives and a few so-called "friends".
Imagine this...
Let's say you go back to school to get a degree (or another degree) from an accredited school.
Which means spend a boatload of cash or get into more debt.
You hit the books and feverishly study at night, burning the midnight oil, and taking precious time away from your family.
And you know what they'll say?
Attaboy! (or girl)
What a great job you're doing. What a winner you are.
Because this is the "norm."
But here's what's funny...
When you inve.st time and monee (typically a lot less than getting a degree) in yourself to learn how to actually create cash-flow, build a business and attain wealth...
Most will ridicule you.
Put you down.
And even try to make you feel guilty with comments like...
"you know you are always working"
"boy you're really taking a lot of time away from your family to do this thang"
"monee is not everything, you really need to take some time to smell the roses"
I once actually had someone who was on the verge of bankruptcy throw that last remark at me.
And it's all because you've decided to go against the grain and create a life of freedom for yourself.
Well here's the COLD HARD TRUTH about your family, relatives and "friends"...
Your future success scares the heck out of them.
Those who aren't as driven as you are that is.
And if you think they'll change when you actually make some dough...
You are in for a rude awakening.
Most (not all, but most) will resent the fact that you had the willingness to DREAM big, the DESIRE to go for it, and the GUTS to break out of the pack.
Because just like those crabs in a bucket, they'd rather pull you down to stay with them, instead of climbing out themselves.
And I've seen this nasty phenomena DESTROY many people in this business.
Killing their chances of success, because they let others mess with their head and get to them.
Now, it's not all bad.
I also figured this out.
While you can't control what they say or do... you can absolutely control what YOU think and what YOU do.
And if you want to succeed, then you absolutely MUST put yourself in a success environment.
This is NON-NEGOTIABLE.
You truly do become like the people you hang around with.
Wanna build a successful business?
Gotta hang around other successful entrepreneurs.
Wanna make a lot of monee?
You've got to start hanging out with people who make a lot of monee.
Wanna achieve your goals and dreams?
You must get around others with big goals and dreams.
