2. Build a Virtual Relationship on Autopilot
If you’re already in a Home Based Business, you’ve probably heard the saying…
People do business with those they know, like and trust.
This is why a lot of traditional Network Marketers will argue that the “Belly to Belly” methods of Home Parties and 3 Way calls will always be best. However, with technology like Youtube and Google Hangouts and a BLOG you can now be building these relationships on Autopilot while you’re out enjoying your life.
Think of this…. Someone comes to your Blog, and watches your video on “The Tremendous Tax Advantages Of A Home Based Business” where they see you explaining how the Tax Code is heavily slanted in the favor business owners. 

They immediately connect with you. They come back tomorrow to watch your video and read the BLOG POST by the same name. They get more and more familiar with you each time they visit.

3. Home Parties aren’t Dead… They’re Just EASIER when they’re Virtual ðŸ™‚

When we were building our Network Marketing company traditionally we were in a different living room every night of the week. We would sometimes drive hours to get to our Team Mates house… only to have 2 to 4 people in the room.
Do Home Parties work? YES, of course they do… but when you’re online they are much easier.
Rather than burning the gas, and wasting time in the car… work smarter rather than harder. 
With a Blog, you are able to create a page and stream LIVE right in your team mates living room. So if their uncle or  Church Member that came out, have questions about the Presentation they can interact with you live and hear your testimonial, without you actually having to be there.
This content then lives on the Internet, to be leveraged later (more on that in #6)

4. Generating Leads of INTERESTED Customers/Prospects

Have you written out your list yet? If you’re serious about your home based business, then your answer is probably YES. I remember busting out the Memory Jogger, and challenging myself to write down at least 100 names of people I knew that I was going to show my business to.
Don’t get me wrong, approaching your
friends/family/dentist/teacher/lawyer/doctor/coworker/babysitter works. 
But one of the most common issues that hold back Network Marketers is they “Run Out of People to Talk to.”

Now that’s a much better conversation than calling your cousin Marshall for the 7th time about coming to your Home Party.

5. Connect with your Local Market

Did you know, RIGHT NOW… at this exact moment, someone is your town is looking online for exactly what you have in your Network Marketing business??
The old methods of handing out flyers on car windows, radio ads, and even Newspaper print… are quickly becoming obsolete. We don’t look at our cookbooks anymore, we just go to Pinterest and find an image that looks yummy, click on the picture, and head over to someone’s blog to check out the instructions.
Ranking for keywords in your Local City is easier as well because there is less competition.
You might be saying “I don’t have a weight loss program tho.” No, maybe not. But if you can still target this keyword as you know your Customer Avatar would be searching this term. 
Remember #1? Give them what they want. Talk about the best Weight Loss Programs in Pt St Lucie  and then also give them information about your product. 

6. Answer Common Questions About Your Company/Product/Services

Word of Mouth marketing will always be powerful. Suzy hears from her friend Rachel about this amazing new skin care line that instantly makes you look 10 years younger. What does Suzy do before she buys it?
RESEARCH.
Suzy opens her laptop and types into the Oracle (aka Google) her questions about the skin care product. What’s in it? Is it safe? Does it really work? How long does it last? etc etc etc. You get the idea.
Bill sees that his buddy is making decent money with a company helping people lower their monthly bills. What does Bill do before he joins this company as a distributor?
RESEARCH.
Bill wants to know if this company is legit. How long has it been around? How much is the commission? Who else is successful? Where is the head office?
So even though you aren’t the one that showed Suzy the skin products, and you never even met Bill… YOU are the one who’s answering their questions. Not only are you creating lots of little Questions Answering/Relationship Building soldiers on the internet,you’re also creating content that your new team members can also leverage.

7. Brand Yourself as the Expert

Like we discussed in #6… even though you aren’t the one pounding the pavement, a Blog allows you to position yourself as the “Expert”.
You provide resources, training, and information on your Blog that sets you apart from the average Tom Dick and Harry out there trying to “Sign People Up” into their business.
I remember when I first got started in our first Network Marketing company… we were 2 struggling young people in love with each other and our dreams of becoming totally financially independent  we had no success story, no results, and ZERO Credibility.
What was our sponsors solution to this?
The 3 Way Call. duh duh duh.
This is where you get your upline on the phone, and you edify THEM as the expert to answer your prospects questions.
Personally, I hated this process. I’ve been on both sides. Where I was introducing my friend to a random stranger they never met who I said was an Expert, and also having team members call me to talk to their prospects as their Expert.
Both sucked. lol
With a blog, you can share powerful knowledge… teaching your Avatar something they did not know before. And YOU become the expert in their eyes… and you never have to pick up the phone.

8. Product Reviews & Competitor Reviews

People LOVE Product reviews.
I know when I was buying an SUV I didn’t really base my decision on price… the first thing I checked out was the Customer Reviews. I wanted to hear from other people who owned an SUV and see how they liked it, what issues they had, and if they recommended it.
Your blog allows you to create powerful Product Reviews for each product in your line… where you can add before/after pics, video testimonials, and even have people leave their comments of their experience.
Not only are you able to create Product Reviews for your own products in your Network Marketing Company, but you can also review the competitors products.

HINT: Avoid BASHING other company’s products. Give genuine reviews of the product and always try and keep your framing positive. You can then offer your own solution as a cheaper/better option and people will be more likely to trust you if they don’t see you bashing.


9. Recruit Team Members Internationally

One of our Top Producers in my former Network Marketing Company was from The Phillipines. We have never been there (although I think we may make our first visit for a Live Event there this year), and we didn’t know anyone in The Phillipines.
He found a video on Youtube, that took him over to our Blog. He went through our training and our posts all night long and at 3am Phillipines time, he clicked the button on our post and got himself started in our business.

No conversation.

No showing her the plan at Starbucks.

No tricking her into bringing Ice to our Home Party.

We now have a powerful team growing on the other side of the world… from a Blog.
Having a blog makes it easy to connect with people in countries you may never even have heard of. And if your Network Marketing Company is talking about Global Expansion… this is an opportunity you simply cannot ignore.

10. Train your New Distributors without Leaving Your House

Your blog gives you a place where you can showcase and acknowledge your Top Performers and celebrate the successes of the Newbies.
People work for money, but they die for recognition.
Not only does it make your team feel like Rockstars when you blog about them, Interview Them, and share their stories… but it also connects your team on a deeper level and can push them to take more action.
One of your team members who hasn’t taken action yet could hear the story of Michelle and how she’s finally quit her job, and get inspired to make a DECISION that they can do it to. “If Michelle can do it, I can too!”
There is also a bond that’s created. When your Team is cheering each other on, and you teach them early on to celebrate the success of others in the team… it creates an abundance mentality in the team, and a Positive Environment that attracts new prospects and keeps existing ones in the game.
The culture you create … is like the GLUE in your team. And if you’ve been in the Network Marketing industry any amount of time you know that Retention is one of the most common issues with most leaders.

Free vs. Paid Traffic



Let’s talk first about the basics of traffic. There are two types of traffic generation strategies:
Free and paid.
What you must know is that there isNO such thing as free. There is ALWAYS a cost of time and or money.
Consider this carefully: your time is always going to be more valuable than your money because you can never get it back, so spending the time to make free strategies work is NOT a solid way to start your business, especially when you’re looking for quick results.
And who isn’t, right?
Now, don’t completely ignore “free” strategies, of course.  Just keep in mind that they are long term and slow to gain enough momentum for your business to be sustainable, much less profitable.
Here’s a really important tip:
You should spend the majority of your time and energy on traffic that is scalable.
Scalability means you can create predictable results (profits). Once you’re generating consistent numbers, you can predictably scale up your campaigns with more and more advertising dollars, which creates less work and more profitability, giving you leverage. And you can only do this with paid advertising. This is why…
Real businesses use paid advertising.
Relying on free traffic is the first of the five worst traffic mistakes!
Yes, you should leverage ALL opportunities for exposure by creating and maintaining a Facebook Page, setting up your own blog, regularly posting content, and creating training and branding videos.
In fact, what’s really effective in today’s ecosystem is promoting all of your content with paid traffic! Which leads me to an important distinction…

Strategy vs. Tactics



So, how does this work? Let’s talk at a strategic level first about the objectives you’re trying to reach. We’ll discuss the various tactics you might use in a minute.
Just so you’re clear on the difference between a strategy and a tactic:
  • Strategies are timeless and unchanging.
  • Tactics are the methods you use to execute the strategy, and they change all the time.
In a battle, a strategy would be holding the high ground. Tactics would be using specific tools to get the job done.
In your marketing, examples of strategy would be understanding advertising psychology or how to interpret metrics on a spreadsheet. Tactics would be using Facebook or PPV ads to promote your smartly-crafted ad copy.
Of the two, clearly your strategy has to come first.
Got it? Good.
Okay, so what are the steps to traffic generation?

The 5 Strategic Steps:

  1. Choose your audience
  2. Craft or find a value-infused offer
  3. Get exposure to that offer
  4. Evaluate Results
  5. Optimize & Improve
Let’s talk about these in detail so the whole process makes sense.
You ALWAYS start this process—each and every time—with this fundamental step…

1. Choose Your Audience



Your audience is the people you’re looking to address with your offer. Most novice marketers struggle mightily with defining their audience, so we’ll break it down for the online networking niche. Here are three possible audiences that you might be interested in:
  1. Those in a business opportunity
  2. Those looking for a business opportunity
  3. Those offering something other than a business opportunity
People in a business opportunity would mostly be network marketers or direct sellers. They would be interested in ways to attract more leads, position themselves as authorities, and make more sales.
People looking for a business opportunity tend to be a fickle bunch. They often jump from “deal” to “deal,” and may be in several at the same time. They are looking for a solution to their problems.
The third group is looking to promote something that doesn’t have a business opportunity attached to it, which is usually their existing business, whether online or offline, brick and mortar or service-based. This group most likely wants to make more sales or increase their lead flow. Don’t we all, right?
You would choose ONE (and only one!) of these audiences.
If you’re not sure which group to pick, which group are you in? You may have more than one motivation, but which one is your primary one? Getting clear on this group is vital, because it determines what you offer and how and where you offer it.
Now it’s time to…

2. Craft or Find a Value-Infused Offer



If you’re already at the point of creating your own offer, that’s fantastic. Congrats!

But if you’re new, don’t fret about not having your own offer yet. The easiest way to start out as you’re generating traffic is to use an offer you already know to be a compelling offer that is already selling well.

That way you know that when you get your traffic generation dialed-in on the front end, the sales will definitely come on the back end.

(Yes, I’ve said ONE four times now. Take the hint. Focus. On. ONE. Tactic.)
For example…
Kate M focuses on paid Facebook video marketing.
Michelle P focuses on Facebook PPC.
Rebecca B. focuses on getting “freaky” and “geeky” with social media.
Ray H. exclusively focuses on content marketing using his blog, truly becoming a content creation machine.
Bob C. is so focused, he’s building his business in an hour a day.
Danielle E. focuses on her editing skills.
Misha W focuses on solo ads.
Tyson Z focuses on YouTube.
You picking up what I’m putting down?
Focus.
Now let’s talk numbers…
You need to go into your advertising with an effective strategy in place, knowing what metrics you’re endeavoring to create. For instance, if you wanted to get 5 sales a day, and you’re converting 10% of your leads, you know you’re looking to generate 50 leads a day.
If each of those leads costs $1, you’ll spend $50 per day in advertising.
If your front-end offer is $47, and you know that roughly 10% of the leads will buy, your five daily sales will total $235.00 for your $50 in ad costs.
You should have a back-end offer that will generate even more sales and profit from your original $50 in ads, but that’s how you get exposure to your offer.

This is important, because once you know your numbers you can…

4. Evaluate Results



Each day that you have ad campaigns running (which should be every day!), you need to evaluate how they are performing.
If you are getting leads but you’re spending $15 each, you need to tweak something. If you’re getting leads but no sales, you need to tweak something. If you’re getting no leads at all, you clearly have the wrong target audience and/or the wrong message to market match, and you need to tweak something.
The key thing to remember here is that you’re buying data with that advertising money.
That’s gold. You’re learning what works and what doesn’t, and that knowledge is invaluable.
For example, if you’re advertising on Facebook, and your target demographic is women ages 35-50 who like Success Magazine, how are they responding to your ads? Which ad is getting a better response rate in your split test?
You won’t know until you test.
If you’re advertising on YouTube, pay close attention to the analytics. How long are people watching your video? Is there a certain point they drop off? Are you losing people at the beginning, before they even get into your content?
Those are all ways that you can evaluate the results of your ads so that you can take the next step to…

5. Optimize and Improve



Here’s where you make changes, refine, and iterate your advertising efforts. Make small adjustments in the audience, targeting, or capture page—but only change one thing at a time so you can analyze the effect of said change.
For example, if you’ve got your Facebook ads running to women aged 35-50 who like Success, what happens when you change out the picture or the copy? Does the response rate go up or down? What happens when you add a call to action button? What kind of change do you see in your response rate, either up or down?
On YouTube, what happens when you split test your intros and add call out boxes and annotations? Do people watch longer? Do you get more opt-ins? What happens when you increase your tempo or use a cheeky pattern interrupt? Do you get more likes or opt-ins?
All of these processes are refining your offer to improve its resonance with your target audience. As you iterate this process, you’ll get more and more effective at finding and connecting with your audience, which means your cost per lead will come down and your sales will go up.
Again, this create scalable leverage. It’s all a part of the process to ultimately…

Build a Better Mouse Trap



If you’re serious about generating a boatload of traffic for your business, then you’ll need to learn the ins-and-outs of laser-targeting your message to your prospects’ precise pain points, problems, and frustrations.
In short…
You need to know WHO your prospects really are…
…and what they really WANT.
Knowing the answers to these two questions will provide you with the essential foundation (Step 1) of the strategy we’ve discussed here in detail.
Think of it like this:
If you use the right cheese in your mouse trap…well, quite simply…the mice will come.
People are the same way.
If you give them the right “cheese,” they will investigate and bite.
